why I got involved:
While I would love to save the world, I really believe that each of us best serves when we are involved with causes close to our heart. That said, breast cancer is a disease that I am passionate about finding a cure for. It has affected women in my family as well as close friends, several of whom were diagnosed in their early twenties. I have watched a friend go through chemo while she was pregnant and be forced with decisions that no mother should ever have to face. I have sat with women who have dealt with issues of identity after their bodies had to be reconstructed from where the cancer had taken its toll. And I have had friends whose battles with the disease ended sooner and in ways that no one had hoped for. Breast cancer is a disease that can be cured and I hope to see that cure in our lifetime.
